What to expect?

Walk the streets of Ferrara's lively and beautifully preserved centre (a UNESCO World Hertage Site) with our tour guide and learn the story of the Este family. The Estensi ruled the city until 1598, and played an essential role in the spread of the Renaissance culture in Emilia.

We will take you to the Cathedral of San Giorgio, a magnificent example of Romanesque architecture, and the nearby Palazzo Municipale, located in the heart of the city. With a short walk we will reach Via delle Volte, surrounded by a medieval atmosphere, and stop in Ferrara's old Jewish Ghetto, where the city's thriving Jewish community once lived.

Our tour of Ferrara also includes a stop in front of the impressive Castello Estense, residence of the Este court, surrounded by a deep moat. A few minutes away is the Renaissance Palazzo dei Diamanti, currently hosting art exhibitions, which surprises with its marble façade decorated with more than 8000 pyramid stones.

Meeting point: Piazza Castello, corner of Giardinetti
