What to expect?

Walking along the Via degli Dei to Sasso Marconi it’s pretty common to see fascinating landscapes, varying from the plains to the pre-Apennine hills. The hike starts from Bologna's main square, Piazza Maggiore, and first reaches the Basilica di San Luca, located on top of the Colle della Guardia hill.

This first stretch is mostly flat and still fully surrounded by the urban landscape. Once in San Luca, we leave the noise of the city behind us to climb the green hills of Bologna, walking on forest paths, dirt roads and a few stretches on tarmac.

Once near Sasso Marconi, there’s time for a break to observe the peaks of Monte Adone and its magnificent sandstone rocks. The Path of Gods takes its name from this and other mountains (Monte Venere, Monte Luario and Monzuno), named after ancient Roman gods.

At the end of the hike we return to Bologna on a regional train.

Good to know
We recommend wearing comfortable, sporty clothing, trekking shoes and a rainproof k-way or cape, and carrying a 30-40 litre backpack, a full water bottle, packed lunch, camera and trekking poles.
